Personality answers:
What would your character say is their best trait? What is truly their best trait?
Vox would claim that his charisma is his strongest point, his ability to talk to a crowd and get them inspired to follow him or buy whatever bullshit he's hawking. It is frighteningly admirable that he's managed to garner so much notoriety and fame that VoxTek products sit in practically every home in Hell despite his inability to leave the Pride Ring as a sinner.
But his truly best trait is his capacity to adapt: While he can be rather hot-headed and lose his temper when taunted, or when things don't go his way, Vox bears an intriguing capability to center himself and get back on track. I liken him to the term "brat tamer"- he's handled his rather bratty rival for close to a hundred years, and while he does piss Vox off nearly constantly, Vox is always able to brush himself off and come up with a response. He rises to a challenge and almost seems to relish the fight, even if it angers him. His adaptability also applies to his frequent plotting and scheming, even if it exasperates his business partners: Vox always has plan after plan, and when one considers he's a household name and face through Hell, it would seem his successes far outnumber his failures.
What is your character most afraid of?
"Failure... I'll show you failure."
Vox had his beginning as someone at the bottom of a ladder and, in short, made his way to the top and more. He sees himself as far, far more than what everyone may think he is, leading to a considerable megalomania, seeking validation.
But he takes validation in varied levels depending on how much he actually respects the person. A few random people don't like his stuff? He's got bigger fish to fry. They can get lost. But when the king of Hell, for all of his power, belittled his plan despite being captured and used to power his superweapon like a little angelic battery, Vox actually took time to stew and sulk about it. Lucifer's words had gotten to him, shook him up into a slow-burning anger.
Though Vox's adaptability and self-control drive him to continue with his plans undaunted, one individual actually hurts him to a lasting degree: Alastor. Of all the creatures in Hell, it's Alastor's respect and validation that Vox desperately craves the most, but is constantly denied to the point of actually driving him to a furious madness in the finale of season 2. When Alastor gets one up on him and humiliates him publicly in front of all of Hell in the wake of his biggest scheme going sour at the 11th hour, Vox snaps. He even resigns to letting the overloading superweapon go nuclear and take them all out, including himself. He can't be a failure to all of Hell and can't be a failure in Alastor's eyes if he manages to get that last laugh and kill them all, right??
Which event in canon is most pivotal to your character's development, and who they are today?
The day Vincent Whittman plotted, then later executed the murder of the newscaster. To become a weatherman is no easy feat, but he was clearly unsatisfied with his lot in life when he noticed just how much attention and time his (unnamed) newscaster colleague was getting in comparison. Though his desire to be more than who others think he is was something he carried through life and well into his afterlife, one has to wonder if he tried to apply for the position legitimately but was denied for some reason or another. He resented the man for being in the position he desired, enough to decide he would take a life for the very first time.
When that succeeded, it became a snowball effect. Did he want that talk show? He killed the host. Did he want to be his own producer? He killed them, too. But what loans belief into attempting things legitimately was when he tried to pitch the benefits of owning the network to current owner Robert Sinclair, his supposed last murder victim. Perhaps it was out of respect for him that he went bloodless for this power grab, but whatever the case, Bob was also killed when he wouldn't play ball.
This seems to instill a mindset in Vox of 'by whatever means necessary', all while having a deeply comfortable taste for blood. He thrives in Hell with his work, feeds employees to his sharks without batting an eyelash, or fights Alastor with all of the collateral damage that entails.
What would be your character's lowest, darkest moment they've lived through? How did they respond to their troubles and face their demons?
Vox hails from an era where you need to keep everything close to your chest. Men had to be men, keep tough, stick to your guns. But one day, when Vox finally felt so close to someone for the supposed first time in his life, he decided to break away from those conventions. One night, he discussed with Alastor that they'd been close for 'a few years', their infamy, and that they could easily rule Hell as partners. After his entire mortal life of working solo and not caring one whit about who would be in his way, he had decided to open up to someone. When Alastor laughed at him, mocked him, there was no rage, pomp and bluster. Vox was hurt, and the knife was driven in further when Alastor not only denied they were friends, but that it was embarrassing that Vox would insinuate such a thing.
Vox's first betrayal. His first heartbreak. To this day, Vox feels bitter and angry over the humiliation, enough that it supercharged his desire to better himself, to climb to the top of the power ladder in Hell.
To him, there are no demons to face, no peace to be made... not when he can spend as long as he could trying to make Alastor regret what he'd done by simply being the best, the brightest, the most innovative and powerful overlord in Hell and RUB THAT STUPID DEER'S FACE IN IT!
Inventory: His suit from his Vox Populi performance, and his suit from "Curtain Call". While they are just outfits, he strives in his public appearance, and having these visual reminders of when he was at his height and then everything came crashing down would be a nice bit of irony as his choice of things to wear until he gets something else made/purchased.
Powers/Abilities:
Abilities
Singing/Dancing- He's from a musical canon. C'mon.
Piano- He plays quite well.
Tech-savvy- Can't run a hugely successful tech and entertainment company without knowing your way around various doohickeys! He can likely perform some level of repairs as a guy made of tech himself, but he'd rather pay people to do it for him. Who has the time??
Gill Breathing- He has vents around his ribs that function like gills.
Powers:
Immortality- In death, he became a sinner demon, punished with living eternal damnation in Hell, so he can be shot, maimed and god knows what else and regenerate. Angelic weaponry can kill him permanently.
Electrokinesis- Able to conjure and manipulate electricity, from making small sparks to completely covering himself in electric power in a fight. Tends to kick off when his emotions run high, too.
Electric Transformation- He can turn himself into electricity and travel through outlets, powerlines or anything that is run on electricity. He can also use it to teleport like a lightning bolt.
Demonic Transformation- As he builds in power and amps up, he assumes more of a monstrous form in the shape of a virus/bacteriophage.
Ologramkinesis- The ability to conjure projector light screens of what size and shape he needs to show various images, video clips, his crappy drawings, or make solid panels he can walk on like stairs. He's even used one to give himself a cape.
Technological Head- His head's a flatscreen television/computer, so he is able to display videos/movies/whatever else he can think of. He can also perfectly mimic voices. He can make phone calls on it, too.
Syrmakinesis- He can conjure
Dealmaking- As a demon from Hell, he can make soul deals with others and seal them with a handshake. In exchange for the possession of your soul, he'll be happy to help others with whatever they need. Just sign this form here and let's shake on it, don't bother reading the fine print.
Hypnosis- With contact with his left eye either directly or via a projection, Vox can brainwash or otherwise bend other minds to his will.
Soul Choice: cephalopodia or ruminantia.
